Changes to our Winter Merit Table Format

We’re thrilled to announce some key changes to the Winter Merit Table which starts on Sunday, 6th October 2024. This competition will be played on alternate Sundays from October through March. Here's what’s new:

Format Changes:

All 12 rounds will now follow the Stableford format, with medal and par bogey formats being removed.

Group Size:

Groups will now consist of 4 players instead of 3, helping to reduce congestion as daylight hours shorten.

Competition Entry Fee:

The existing £3.00 entry fee per week will continue, and this will automatically be taken from your Hunley IG account as usual.

In addition to the above, a compulsory £5.00 competition entry fee will now be charged to all players who participate in at least one Winter Merit Table round. This fee will be collected at the end of the season and will contribute to the prize fund for the top players. We anticipate the prize fund to be between £500.00 and £750.00, which will be distributed among the top 8-10 players.

Points System:

• Every golfer will receive 1 point for playing each week.
• The weekly winner will earn 30 points, with 1 point deducted per position down to the 26th place, where 4 points will be awarded.
• Your final standing will be based on your best 8 rounds.

Automatic Registration:

No need to sign up in advance! Simply participating in any of the rounds will automatically register you into the league.
